Weekend Roundup February 16-18, 2018

&&& Monday comes again! Hope today wasn’t too rough on all of you lovely people!

This weekend was quite uneventful, and yet went by far too quickly.

Friday

Work on Friday was fairly busy for all of us so we were tuckered out and not in the mood for a fussy evening. I made my obligatory trip to Costco to pick up the fixings for dinner, and also picked up a new book by Sophie Kinsella called Surprise Me. I’m really pushing myself to read more this year as I’ve been terribly lazy about it. I tend to binge a whole series of books each year (2016 – Vampire Academy, 2017 – Mortal Instruments) but this year I’m trying to go on a steady diet of reading. I also finally put together my makeup vanity mirror. I’ve been working with a mirror like this from Costco, however mine only cost $20 CAD, and really wanted to upgrade to a Hollywood Mirror but couldn’t justify the absurd price. I will have a post up in the future on how I made my (only cost me $80 CAD in total), as I found it super easy and inexpensive. I really wish that I had done it sooner! My wonderful husband made quesadillas for dinner which were very tasty! I’m the main cook in the family so I always enjoy getting to have a night off a meal making.

Saturday

Saturday was a bit of a write-off as I had a bit of a mental breakdown. The start of this year has just made me a bit shakey and it all came down on me on Saturday morning. So I spent the day in bed, curled up under blankets, sleeping off the anxiety. By about 3pm I was feeling much better and was insanely hungry so I made enough spaghetti bolognese to feed a small army, or my small family of hungry individuals! After dinner I spent a few hours watching youtube videos, I will have a post up shortly of my favourite bloggers and youtubers! In the evening I finally started reading Dear Dwayne, With Love. Eliza Gordon’s books are so easy to get into, and the writing just flows to the point where you almost forget you’re reading.

Sunday

After having such an event-less day on Saturday, I pulled my socks up on Sunday and got to doing a bunch of returns that I had been sitting on. I ordered a few pairs of boots online and none of them worked out so I returned them in-store. I was on a manhunt for a decent primer and finally found 2! However that meant that I had 4 that had to go back to Shoppers Drug Mart & Sephora. I have an oily T-zone and I find that silicone primers just make it worse lately. I found one from Shoppers Drug Mart by Artdeco called the Skin Perfecting Makeup Base – Silicone Free ($26 CAD for 0.5oz) and the other from Sephora by Guerlain called the L’Or Radiance Primer ($82 CAD for 1oz). I find it funny that the Guerlain primer is intended for people with normal to dry skin because of its radiance factor, however it tends to work better on those with normal to combination skin because the primer has a tackiness to it. After the returns, I picked up my husband and sister-in-law and the 3 of us went out to an RV show. My husband and I have been looking at getting an RV for a while, as we are planning on having kids in the future and it’s much easier and cheaper to travel by car than plane. It was a bit like being a kid in a candy shop!

All-in-all, it was a decent weekend. A few ups, a few downs, but at least it was some time off. We also had a big chunk of snow fall this weekend, which tends to put me in a good mood as it makes everything beautiful and we rarely get snow here.

How did you fare this weekend?

Up to anything exciting or simply relaxed?
