Weekend Roundup February 9-12, 2018

Happy Tuesday Loves!

This weekend just happened to be a long weekend where I live so it was wonderful to have 3 days off!

Friday was National Pizza Day so we HAD to partake of course… We ended up staying in with some yummy pizza and watching the new Baywatch movie with Zac Efron & Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. It was the perfect movie for a relaxing evening in. Funny, ridiculous, and full of beautiful people.

On Saturday morning, I quickly ran down to my P.O. Box to pick up my dress for Valentine’s Day (Yay!) along with some goodies to review for you all in the coming weeks. At 1pm, I headed off to my nearest Chapters to visit my favourite local author, Eliza Gordon. She came out with a new book on January 23 2018 Dear Dwayne, With Love, and I just had to get my hands on it ASAP. It was also just wonderful to see her and get to talk to her about life and books. The rest of my afternoon was spent at the dog park with my husband, puppies, and a few friends and their dog. It was so beautiful and sunny, but really quite chilly. Post dog-park excitement, we grabbed some sushi at Sushi Mori. Both the food and the prices were good, however the company was even better! We hadn’t seen our friends since Christmas so it was nice to catch up on how fast life is flying by. Once we were all thoroughly stuffed, everyone came to our place for some tea and beer.

My Saturday evening was spent finally finishing reading Holly Porter Builds a Raft, the sequel to Must Love Otters. I will hopefully have a review up of these shortly, as Holly Porter Builds a Raft has forever embedded itself in my heart as one of my favourite books of all time. I can’t wait to share my review with you all. Be warned though, this book causes you to have major feels and tears!

The weather was beautiful on Sunday so we headed out to the off-leash dog walking trails near our home to run the dogs a bit and enjoy the sunshine. We have had quite the gloomy winter this year, with hardly any snow and more rain than we want to see ever again, so this weekend was a glorious break for us. It really feels like Spring is just around the corner!

Sunday afternoon and evening were spent organizing and writing blog posts while my husband visited his parents and went to the sauna. I also watched the latest episode of Riverdale (Bughead for life!) which was amazing and rightly so as it was directed by none other than Julie Plec, the genius behind Vampire Diaries. I love that Riverdale is filmed in Vancouver because I recognize most of the places that the scenes are filmed. I have an infinite love for fantasy-esque shows, my current obsessions are Riverdale and Shadowhunters. Riverdale isn’t very much a fantasy, more of a drama, but it has the feeling that it is getting darker and more mysterious.

Monday was Family Day in British Columbia so we had an extra day to sleep in, which is always very welcome. The morning was very unproductive and sleepy however the afternoon was filled with fun adult stuff like returning shoes and going grocery shopping! The excitement just gets to me! My husband picked up his sister and her husband from the ferry and I made stuffed peppers in tomato sauce… One of my go to comfort foods. We rounded out the weekend by watching the Olympic figure skating highlights before bed.

This weekend seem to rush by a bit, I could have easily had a few more days just get through everything that I wanted to get done, but hey, at least it’s a short week and tomorrow is Valentine’s Day!

How was your weekend?

Do you have any plans for Valentine’s Day?
